2. Paneer in Hot Garlic Sauce:
We Indians just love Indo-Chinese food and here’s an Indo-Chinese recipe with paneer as the main ingredient that Sanjeeda Sheikh absolutely loves.
Ingredients:
200 grams paneer (cubed)
2 tablespoons oil
1 tablespoon butter
1 medium onion (finely chopped)
1 bell pepper (sliced)
6-8 cloves garlic (finely minced)
1-inch piece of ginger (finely minced)
2-3 green chilies (slit)
1 tablespoon soy sauce
1 tablespoon tomato ketchup
1 tablespoon chili sauce
1 teaspoon vinegar
1 tablespoon cornflour (mixed with 3 tablespoons water)
Salt to taste
Black pepper to taste
2-3 spring onions (chopped for garnish)
Recipe:
Heat the oil and butter in a pan over medium heat. Add the chopped onions and sauté until they become translucent. Next, add the minced garlic, ginger, and green chilies, cooking until the garlic turns golden brown and releases its aroma. Add the sliced bell pepper and sauté for a couple of minutes until it softens. Stir in the soy sauce, tomato ketchup, chili sauce, and vinegar, mixing well to combine all the flavors. Add salt and black pepper to taste.
Pour in the cornflour slurry, stirring continuously to avoid lumps, and cook until the sauce thickens. Gently add the paneer cubes, ensuring they are well-coated with the sauce. Cook for another 2-3 minutes to let the paneer absorb the flavors. Garnish with chopped spring onions before serving hot.
3. Dal-Sabzi-Roti:
This is every Indian’s staple food – dal-sabzi-roti is normal, everyday food for us. While the combination of dal with rice is paired in some regions, others prefer just dal-sabzi-roti, the combination is a good source of complex carbs, which supplies the body with energy and keeps you full for long hours, without the need to indulge in food every few hours.
4. Dry Fruits:
Do you know what’s the healthiest snack that you could have while on a weight loss diet? A handful of nuts like walnut, almonds, pistachios, etc. According to this study published on the National Library of Medicine website, people who consume almonds show a decrease in their body and fat mass compared to controlled diets.
The high protein and healthy fats in dry fruits not only curb appetite, they also boost metabolism and facilitate fat burning too. Keep them handy and munch on them when hunger pangs strike. Sanjeeda Sheikh has dry fruits in her breakfast routine along with multi-grain bread and omelette and this combination makes sure she has lots of energy and does not need to snack on unhealthy things through the day.
Summing up, even though Sanjeeda Sheikh credits her strong metabolism for her lean frame, the fact remains that more than her genes, it’s her healthy diet and dance routine that keeps her metabolism high and burns all the extra calories and prevents fat buildup in her body.
